The Confessor

Kurt Busiek's Astro City is an incredible series of comics. Well worth picking up. In the series he plays with superhero archtypes and spends time looking at them from the perspective of the everyday man on the street.

My favorite storyline is the one found in the Confession series. We are introduced to the Confessor, the Batman archtype, who works out of a church and has recently taken on a partner, Altar Boy. The story is told through Altar Boy's perspective and deals with what it really means to be a hero.

Also, gotta love the Christian imagery, not only with the Confessor, but also in the "Cross Breed", a group of Evangelical superheroes (not something you see everyday).

As you can see, I drew this picture in '98. I wish I could pull of some of the computer paint programs as the cross on the Confessor is supposed to glow (a pretty cool effect).
